You'll see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2018 tax software if on the RC267: Contributions to a United States retirement plan – temporary assignments page you entered your 2018 contributions to a U.S. retirement plan and the amount of contributions that would be excluded from your income but didn’t enter your resident compensation for the year:
You need to enter your resident compensation for 2018 because you entered your 2018 contributions to your U.S. employer’s retirement plan and the amount of those contributions that would qualify for tax relief in the U.S. Let’s go back and enter this amount. [error code: 253]
How do I fix this?
To correct the error, enter your resident compensation amount for the year in the designated field on the RC267 page.
Note: You can find the RC267 page under the PENSION PLANS AND INVESTMENTS icon on the PREPARE tab.
