  4. Click Finish Import to continue to your 2018 return. That’s it!

    Notes:

    • You can only upload a T1 General and a Québec TP-1 from TurboTax, SimpleTax, or UFile. If you upload anything else, you'll see an error message.

    • If you’re a Québec resident, you’ll be asked to upload your T1 General PDF first and then your TP-1 Québec PDF. Be sure to upload these PDFs in the right order.

    • If you upload your PDF(s) and then navigate Back from the Import your 2017 data from other tax software page, your PDF(s) will be deleted.

    • If you want to prepare your return with your spouse or common-law partner (coupled return), you can import your spouse’s information after your own. Remember, it is to your advantage to prepare your return with your spouse to maximize your tax savings and minimize the amount of taxes you might owe.

  1. On the left-hand side menu of TurboTax, select REVIEW.
  2. Select Print personal return or forms.
  3. In the Save a copy of your return for your records step, select Federal tax return.
  4. Select Save PDF Copy for Your Records.
  5. In the Save As dialogue box that opens, select where you want to save the file, then click Save.

SimpleTax

  1. Log into your SimpleTax account.
  2. In the left-hand navigation panel, click Tax Returns.
  3. You’ll be able to see all your previous year returns - select your 2017 tax return.
  4. Scroll down to the Submit section and click the Save PDF button to download your 2017 tax return.

UFile

  1. Log into your UFile account.
  2. Under My Files on the UFile T1 tab, click the LAUNCH button for your 2017 tax return.
  3. Click on the Tax Return tab, then click the PDF button at the bottom of the page to download your 2017 tax return.

If you can’t access your 2017 PDF tax return, don’t worry – you can skip the PDF import process to get started on your 2018 tax return. Be sure to have your latest notice of assessment (NOA) or notice of reassessment on hand to enter your unused amounts from last year.
